How to answer IELTS writing task 1 topic perfectly to get high band score.
The following IELTS writing task 1 tips will help you understand the exam pattern and also provide you enough ideas to score a better band. Remember you will have only 20 minutes to complete your IELTS writing task 1.
If you are taking IELTS General Training exam, then you will only get a letter writing task under IELTS writing task 1.

Types of IELTS Letter:
We get to see three different types of IELTS letters. Within the IELTS writing task 1, you may end up getting one of these letter types. So let’s understand the different types of IELTS letters.
A personal letter is written to someone you already know. Within the letter, you will be asked to write about a personal situation or a common social problem.
A semi-formal letter is written to someone you know but not really closely attached to them. So you will be asked to write about a common social problem or anything related to work.
A formal letter is written to someone you don’t know in person. So you will be asked to write about a request or a complaint etc.

It is extremely important how you conclude your letter and examiners will definitely look into this while evaluating your answer sheet.

Dear Sir/ Madam= Yours faithfully
Dear Mr. Honey= Your sincerely
Hi Jay or Dear Jay= See you soon / Take Care/ All the best
Always end up using your First Name and Last Name for Formal and Semi-formal letters. For personal letters you can just use your First name.
It is vital that you check your spelling before moving on to your next task. Remember the evaluator will check your spellings as well.
Punctuation and Vocabulary:
Use of appropriate punctuation marks is also necessary. To score high band in IELTS writing task 1 vocabulary is also equally important.
